The Barely Bruised Book Club
As a longtime Sandy Hiller, I was very interested in dropping in to visit this delightfully wonderful bookstore in the hood. Many interesting titles to browse and pleased to find a gem each time visiting so far.
Give some time to have a look.
Stopped by BBBC for my first time and I had the best time sipping coffee and discussing titles with the owner. Also lovely Milo made for great company. Incredible deals for students and I'm looking forward to the next Poetry Night!
I randomly came across Scott’s page and realized I found a gold mine of books! Scott is very helpful and patient in explaining how he sells his books and the prices of the books(which btw is wonderful!). He also can give you his suggestions on certain literary genres you want to explore. He is also very much willing to ship. You know you have come across a good bookstore when the owner itself gives a personal experience to the transaction!
I love this place! Scott is knowledgeable and kind, and the space is as quirky and enticing as any gem of a bookstore needs to be to lure you back again. All to say- BBBC has become my favourite book browsing and shopping destination.
A perfect balance of intelligence and irreverence in the collection!
This place is amazing! just took my girls there on the weekend for the first time and we all left with a box of amazing reads. I also love the social aspect. I think its great and everyone should check it out. PS: the girls love Milo too
They have amazing prices and customer service . I placed an order with them on Friday Morning and it was delivered the next Monday.
book quality was excellent.
the owner is very pleasant to communicate with and very helpful.
If you live in Canada or anywhere for that matter I highly recommend them.
helpful, friendly owner, amazing selection of books and art by local artists on the walls!
Great books at great prices! Come on by for a free coffee or tea and browse through Ottawa's finest books!
Picked up some great books at a good price. Great and interesting selection, certainly worth a look.
The vibe is welcoming and unique. The selection is second to none in the city, especially its Indigenous, Esoteric and Philosophy sections. The place is as much a community hub as it is a book store.
I have been getting my books from Scott at the Barely Bruised book club now for a while and he has a great selection that is always in great shape and amazing prices......and is so easy to deal with. Once he knows what your interested in he also can guide you to different authors that are very similar to your current taste....I highly recommend checking out the titles that he has and if he doesnt have it in stock he will try to find it for you and he also ships your purchases to you if you need that service as well.....It an amazing experience all the way around either online or at the store itself and the poetry nights he puts on are amazing and love the fact that he has free books for the little kids to help promote young kids to read a book not just a computer screen.
A wonderful selection of books. I'm into esoteric literature and philosophy, and I've never visited this place without finding something I want to buy. The owner is friendly and full of enthusiasm. Free coffee or tea makes it a great place to stop in for a few minutes when the weather's not so great. A great addition to the neighbourhood, and I think I'd go out of my way to visit this place even if I lived further away.
This is more than a book store; its an experience. A fascinating selection of books and a warm welcome. Have a free coffee and a chat with Scott. He loves old books and will go out of his way to find what you want if he hasn't got it. He has terrific books you will never find anywhere else. Wish I could visit every day.
This has quickly become my most favourite bookstore. The quality and selection of books available are incredible, not to mention that the prices cannot be beat! This is a bookstore that everyone should know about
